Sneak Peek
neverending storm
by Wybie Santiny

the neverending storm,
cascading bullets.
pitter patter, pitter patter
upon the wet concrete.
newborn ocean—you are barren of life,
i taste gasoline and cigarette smoke in the air.
the centipede writhes within my skull,
uncaring of the thunder,
though the lightning is a beautiful sight to
bear in the light gray expanse of sky. the
grass weighed down by gravel, rotting
driftwood table,
pitter patter, pitter patter
from the pipeline waterfall.
swarm of flies find sanctuary in my
skin, and it smells of dirt and smoke, it
does. i wonder,
mother nature, who do you cry for?
